Life is like a bowl of trail mix. Some people like the raisins while others like the granola. Some people dislike peanuts while others dislike almonds. Each and every ingredient is trying to deliver your nourishment despite their different flavor profiles. People are like this as they are varying greatly in their own respective flavor while trying to accomplish the same goals. You can live life will all the peanuts but no good trail mix bowl is complete without all the flavors. Embrace the mix.
We consume content like we consume food. Just as low nutrition fast food has become a staple in the modern person’s diet, the same has happened to the information and media we consume. If reading a book is like eating a nutritious meal, then watching your guilty pleasure TV shows is like eating fast food. For both fast food and your TV shows, moderation is likely key. Social Media is like taking shots. Short and electric bits of content that in small doses are great but in excess, during short periods of time, can lead to you not feeling too great about yourself. What are podcasts then? Podcasts are like all these new $20 salad joints. They are new, hip, healthy, and are generally perceived as a status symbol among higher-income groups.
