Twitter Education
The entertainment and content industry is changing very quickly to adapt to dwindling consumer attention spans. Snapchat stories are short. Tweets are short. Highlights are shorts. News soundbites are short. Ads are short. Everything we consume is shortening to meet our changing preferences in a noisy world.
What about school? Despite content consumption habits changing and the many industries adapting to it, schools still have 2-hour lectures and hundreds of pages of reading as weekly homework. Shouldn’t school be changing too? I am by no means advocating for getting rid of class or homework entirely, but it sometimes feels that professors are just filling class time or assigning work for the sake of it. Perhaps content delivery should be as strategic and focused in the classroom as it is on our mobile devices.
